Waterkloop Wines With Louis Boutinot
Waterkloof was founded in 2003 by Anglo-French winemaker Paul Boutinot. The ‘Anglo’ here happens to be Stockport, but Paul says he’ll be holding on a little longer, for global warming to really kick-in, before planting a vineyard in Glossop. One for the Grandkids.
In the meantime, Paul and his team are fortunate to be growing grapes and making wines from a much sought after vineyard site, just 2 miles from the windswept Atlantic Ocean on the most coastal, coolest, and lowest yielding vineyard in Stellenbosch. Ideal circumstances to produce fine, food-friendly and long-lived wines…if you have the patience.
This gem of a vineyard has been further enhanced over the ensuing years by an awe-inspiringtransformation into a certified WWF Conservation Champion and fully fledged regenerative farm. 20 years on, through a happy combination of both fortuitous and created circumstance, Waterkloof continues its steady progress in farming, winemaking and renown. To date, they have somehow managed to notch up the largest number of features of any wine producer, not only in Decanter’s ‘Weekday Wine’ Section (Decanter is the world’s most-read wine magazine), but also in Jancis Robinson MW’s ‘Wine of The Week’ page on her eponymous and much-respected website (Jancis is longstanding Wine Writer for The Financial Times and Wine Advisor to The Royal Household).Paul’s right-hand man and son Louis, will be joining us to take you through 6 wines from Waterkloof, all of which are naturally crafted in tiny quantities by their ultra-talented winemaker Nadia Langenegger.
On the night you’ll be guided through 6 amazing wines, plus food, all for just £35 per person.
